Ludlow is a market town, renowned for its medieval and Tudor-style buildings. If you’re looking for the atmosphere of old England, this is the perfect town to visit for its history and unique charm. The Feathers Hotel, in particular, is a stunning example of Elizabethan half timber architecture - the restaurant, too, is well worth a visit.
Ludlow Castle is one of the most stunning castles from the 11th century. Overlooking the River Teme, this imposing building stands tall and bold against the skyline, and should be a must-see on your itinerary.
Nearby is Castle Lodge, where scenes from the film version of Moll Flanders were shot. The house is famous for being the residence of Catherine of Aragon, who went on to become the first of Henry VIII’s six wives. It now has one of the largest collections of oak panelling in all of England.
Well worth a visit is Mahorall Cider Farm, try your hand at pressing apples and sampling the results. A bottle of hand pressed cider makes a fantastic treat to take home for yourself, or friends.
If shopping is your thing, Ludlow has a wide range of big name stores interspersed with quaint boutiques, showcasing local talent, and delightful tea rooms, serving sumptuous homemade cakes.
